What Now?
what gap year staff do without students
With empty A-frames and no students, what’s a gap year staff to do? Do we spend the summer wandering around aimlessly around camp, looking for things to occupy our time? Nice try! We might not have students in the summer, but we have plenty of summer projects to keep us busy. Our location at a camp/retreat center means that the summer offers lots of activity, and we look forward to hosting events and catching up on various tasks that might be put on hold during the school year.
We have enjoyed a quieter few weeks - I enjoyed some time doing farm chores and got to go on a couple hikes with friends, as well as enjoy other activities that I have less time for during the school year. Enjoy a couple pictures of life in Pennsylvania lately! This is a shorter update, but stay tuned for a more in-depth one this weekend or sometime next week.
A song I’ve enjoyed lately: Love is a Good Thing
Join me in memorizing: James 1:5-8
If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.
James 1:5-8
Prayer points:
Praise God for His mercy that is freely shown to us.
Please pray for good time management as I prepare to begin some college classes this summer (all online, so I can continue to work at Planted). It’s going to be a very busy summer!
Please pray a restful and refreshing summer for the Planted staff as we enjoy vacations and time with family while also continuing camp work and planning for next fall.
Pray for provision for our prospective students. For several of them, coming to Planted will be financially stretching/difficult. If you’re interested in giving to our student scholarship fund, you can do so here, leaving a comment that your gift is specifically for student scholarships.
Ministry moment: We are working on several administrative updates during the summer. It’s a great time to give attention to improving forms and processes so they better serve our staff and students. I’ve really enjoyed thinking about how we can equip each person with the information they need to do their job well, whether it’s our staff, student mentors, parents, or our students.
Rooted in Him,
Kate
